Description of the event

ETLab is pleased to announce that Professor Alessandro Bosisio has been accepted to join the CIRED Working Group on Artificial Intelligence in Electricity Distribution Networks, an international initiative dedicated to exploring the role of artificial intelligence in the development and operation of modern electricity distribution systems.
CIRED, the International Conference and Exhibition on Electricity Distribution, provides an international platform for professionals and researchers working on electricity distribution networks. Through its working groups, CIRED encourages knowledge exchange and collaboration on emerging technical challenges and developments shaping the future of distribution systems.
ETLab joins an international research initiative
Professor Alessandro Bosisio’s acceptance into the working group recognizes the opportunity to contribute his expertise to international discussions on the application of artificial intelligence in electricity distribution networks. The group will bring together specialists to exchange knowledge and contribute to the development of this evolving field.
Artificial intelligence is attracting increasing interest in power systems, with potential applications in network monitoring, fault detection, predictive maintenance, demand forecasting, operational optimization and the integration of distributed energy resources. As electricity distribution networks become more complex and increasingly incorporate renewable generation, electric vehicles and flexible loads, AI-based approaches may offer new tools to support network planning, operation and decision-making.
The working group’s activities will provide a framework for collaborative discussion and knowledge exchange among experts in the field. Following the acceptance of its members, the group will proceed with an initial kick-off meeting to coordinate its activities and define the next steps.
Why it matters
The combination of artificial intelligence and electrical engineering is opening new research opportunities for smarter, more flexible and more resilient electricity distribution networks. International collaboration through initiatives such as CIRED’s working groups helps researchers and practitioners exchange perspectives on the challenges and opportunities associated with these technologies.
ETLab congratulates Professor Alessandro Bosisio on this appointment and looks forward to the knowledge exchange and research opportunities that this international collaboration may bring to the electricity distribution and smart grid community.
