Biography
Cesare Del Prete received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 2019 and 2022, respectively. His master’s thesis focused on Applied Measurement for Power Systems.
Research activity focuses on electric power distribution systems, predictive maintenance, asset management, reliability analysis, and data-driven methodologies for modern distribution networks, with particular emphasis on smart grid analytics, anomaly detection and the digitalization of electrical infrastructure management.
He is an Executive Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering through the collaboration between A2A and the University of Pavia, Italy. His work focuses on electric power distribution systems, with particular attention to asset management, predictive maintenance, and device management for electrical networks.
Research interest investigates data-driven approaches for the operation and maintenance of distribution grid assets, especially secondary substations. By combining historical fault data, technical asset information, and unsupervised learning techniques, his work aims to support predictive maintenance strategies and improve asset management decisions in modern distribution networks. His research interests include predictive maintenance of electrical assets, reliability of distribution networks, smart grid data analytics, clustering and anomaly detection methods, and the digitalization of distribution network management in the context of the energy transition
He is currently working in the Asset Engineering Department at A2A, where his activities focus on technical standards, testing procedures, and the homologation of materials and components for electrical distribution networks. In this role, he deals with the technical evaluation of network devices and materials, supporting their qualification, standardization, and implementation within the company’s distribution grid.
