Description of the event

ETLab has been selected to participate in the National Working Group on the valorization of flexibility enabled by Charging Infrastructure Controllers (CIR), an initiative promoted by RSE (Ricerca sul Sistema Energetico) to foster collaboration among universities, research centres, energy operators, technology companies and other stakeholders in the energy and electric mobility sectors.
Following the conclusion of the application and evaluation process, RSE announced the organizations admitted to the National Working Group. ETLab’s application was successful, with all evaluation criteria reported as satisfied in the official results.
The University of Pavia (ETLAB) among the selected participants
The University of Pavia has been admitted to the initiative, with all evaluation criteria reported as satisfied in the official results. Its participation provides an opportunity to contribute to national discussions on the technological, regulatory and operational challenges associated with energy flexibility and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Contributing to the future of energy flexibility
The National Working Group aims to explore how flexibility provided by electric vehicle charging infrastructure and other distributed energy resources can be effectively integrated and valorized within the energy system. Its activities will address key aspects such as business models, technological solutions, regulatory frameworks and interoperability.
Charging Infrastructure Controllers can play an important role in coordinating charging demand and enabling more flexible interaction between electric vehicles and the electricity grid. Developing suitable technical and regulatory frameworks for these solutions is an important step towards a more efficient and flexible energy system that supports the energy transition.
The initiative brings together a broad range of organizations from academia, industry and the energy sector, creating opportunities to exchange expertise and develop shared perspectives on the future of energy flexibility in Italy.
Why it matters
The growing integration of electric vehicles, charging infrastructure and distributed energy resources creates new opportunities to provide flexibility to the electricity system. Collaboration between academia, industry and energy-sector stakeholders can help identify practical solutions, improve interoperability and support the development of innovative services for the energy transition.
ETLab’s participation represents an opportunity to contribute its expertise in electrical energy systems and engage with stakeholders working on innovative solutions for energy flexibility, smart charging and the integration of electric mobility into modern power systems.
