CIRED 2026 Brussels Workshop

ETLAB researchers participated in the 10th CIRED Workshop, held in Brussels on 9 and 10 June 2026, one of the leading international events dedicated to electricity distribution systems. The workshop brought together researchers, distribution system operators, industry representatives and technology providers to discuss innovative solutions supporting the evolution of modern electricity distribution networks.

During the event, ETLAB presented the scientific contribution entitled “Edge Computing for Real-Time Monitoring and Self-Healing in Digital Distribution Systems”, focusing on the application of edge computing technologies to support real-time monitoring, faster control actions and self-healing functionalities in digital distribution networks. The work contributes to the development of more resilient, efficient and intelligent electrical systems capable of addressing the challenges posed by increasing digitalisation and the integration of renewable energy sources.

The workshop represented an important opportunity to present ongoing research activities, gather feedback and contributions from the international scientific community, and engage with professionals working in the fields of smart grids, automation, flexibility services and advanced distribution network management. The technical sessions also provided valuable insights into emerging trends and future research directions in the field of digital energy infrastructures.

ETLAB’s participation in the 10th CIRED Workshop 2026 confirms the laboratory’s commitment to research and innovation in the fields of smart grids, active distribution networks and digital technologies for energy, while further strengthening international collaborations with academic and industrial partners involved in the energy transition.
