ETLAB researchers participated in the 10th CIRED Workshop, held in Brussels on June 9–10, 2026, one of the leading international events dedicated to electricity distribution systems. The workshop brought together researchers, utilities, industrial stakeholders and technology providers to discuss innovative solutions for the evolution of modern distribution networks.

During the event, ETLAB presented the paper “Edge Computing for Real-Time Monitoring and Self-Healing in Digital Distribution Systems”, focusing on the application of edge computing technologies to support real-time monitoring, faster control actions and self-healing functionalities in digital distribution networks. The work contributes to the development of more resilient, efficient and intelligent power systems capable of addressing the challenges of increasing digitalization and renewable energy integration.

The paper was developed in collaboration with A2A and RSE, highlighting the importance of cooperation between academia, research institutions and industry in advancing innovative solutions for future electrical distribution systems.

The workshop provided a valuable opportunity to present ongoing research activities, receive feedback from international experts and exchange ideas with professionals working in the fields of smart grids, automation, flexibility services and advanced distribution system management. The technical discussions offered important insights into emerging trends and future research directions for digital energy infrastructures.

ETLAB’s participation in CIRED 2026 confirms the laboratory’s commitment to research and innovation in smart grids, active distribution networks and digital energy technologies, while strengthening international collaborations with academic and industrial partners engaged in the energy transition.
