Biography
Executive PhD student – A2A S.p.A.
Alessandro Cirocco obtained his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, with a curriculum focused on renewable energy integration, distributed generation, and power network planning. He is currently an Executive PhD Student at the University of Pavia in collaboration with A2A S.p.A.
Alongside his research activities, he works as a Project Engineer in the Smart Infrastructure Business Unit at A2A, where he coordinates national and European strategic projects aimed at the digitalization of electricity distribution networks. His areas of expertise include the implementation of Edge Computing solutions for Distribution System Operators, the management of Multi-Energy Systems, the integration of electric vehicle charging infrastructures, and the development of local flexibility markets.
His research interests lie at the intersection of grid digitalization, urban energy systems, and flexibility markets, with the goal of combining academic research with the practical challenges of the energy sector. His work focuses on developing innovative solutions to support the evolution of smart and sustainable energy systems.
Throughout his professional and research career, he has contributed to several innovation projects in the energy sector, including the Horizon Europe initiatives SENERGY NETs and Edgeflex. Prior to his current position at A2A, he worked as a Project Engineering Analyst at Unareti and as a Junior Researcher at RSE S.p.A. He is also an active member of international technical working groups, including the E4S Board and the EDSO Technological Radar, contributing to the definition of technical standards and the advancement of innovation in the energy sector.
